Here's the original version of the Mosquito device that's designed to repel teenagers from shops and streets. If you're over 25 you won;t hear anything but the street sounds and a girl laughing. If you're under 25 then you might hear a rather nasty high pitched siren sound... Terrible quality (MP3) recording but interesting to know just how much sound isn't heard. Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean it isn't there.

thanks for uploading. needed an example for a lecture.As is i found it barely perceptible, then imported into sampler and two tones lower it was creeping in. A fifth lower was definitely annoying.

Yep - you can only hear it if you download. Freesound.. not sure what you do here but it strikes me as odd! KJ

I'm 24, I can't hear anything on the embedded player. When I download the file, I can certainly hear it. FS must chop out some high frequencies.
