Milque toast. Go to a dojang (karate school). Close your eyes and listen. There are (or should be) accentuations to each kai (key/eye). This is a means of focusing one's energy into the punch, kick, etc. Think of a Marine...you won't hear a DI sounding like that. Go for the gusto and give it another whirl!
