Two pairs of trumpets randomly burst out pentatonic movements in a fixed rhythm while a solo trumpet swells above them, with the pentatonic tonal center shifting occasionally. This is totally synthetic, output from an AnalogBox 2.41 circuit that I built as a way of toying with some ideas for how to generate a decent-sounding trumpet. There are no samples involved in the synthesis, as it is accomplished by low-level oscillators, delays, filters, and such things as that. One of the interesting aspects of this experiment is that I got much better results (as in this circuit) by letting what I call the "attack burble" (the brief modulations of the waveform at the onset) be controlled by a resonant delay. The accompanying trumpets and the solo trumpet use somewhat different circuits, and they are not interchangeable, surprisingly. The actual musical aspect of this is mostly just an accident of how the random variations work their way through the circuit, but of course, the circuit was designed with certain constraints. I waited until I had not touched this particular circuit for a couple of months before deciding it was "stable" enough to take some output from it and post it on freesound. :-)

You might actually find it useful as background under something, even though it is not all that convincing, and certainly not so compelling. But as always, attribution is required. :-)

Really really great "accident" though it completely doesn't sound like one. Amazing! :-)
