A recording of my hallway, which has some sorta heater vent thing that makes this noise. I pulled down the treble with an EQ because there wasn't any noise from the heater there (or anything else really) so all it contributed was hiss. However I still have the unmodified sound in my "Raw Recordings" pack.

This will fit well for a layer in my fx build. Suggest you try and get a device capable of 24/48 and generally don't worry about stereo unless they are ambient recordings.
