Contrary to popular opinion, British pubs are not full of football hooligans displaying their rear-ends, fighting, shouting and being offensive. They are usually fairly quiet places, populated by a handful of local customers, politely chatting about the day's events and exchanging greetings. This recording was made at The Victoria in Fishergate, York on the 9th Nov (Sunday) around closing time (about half past ten) You can hear the landlady mention 'last orders' to a customer who has just asked to cut a page from the complimentary newspaper.
