This is a sound I recorded at "Bobigny-Pantin-Raymond Queneau" subway station in the outskirts of Paris. There is a very interesting acoustical phenomena happening there each time a train leaves the station haeding to Bobigny: a few seconds after the train has left the platform, a huge, dark and overwhelming "roar" can be heard in the tunnel. I don't think this is unique, but it certainly is fun to listen to (!) Recorded with a zoom h2n in X/Y stereo mode.

hi, I was living in Paris for a while and I went crazy about another metro's "acoustical phenomena" as you nicely called it. It is well heard when waiting for a train at empty station: you can hear very very low, kind of rumbling noise. As train approaches it is momentally becoming this very high metro sound (0:19 in your rec. & mixed with rails sounds). As I am now in Poland I can't record that myself so I search for it. Maybe you know about what am I speaking? all best and thank you for recording above! Sonia
