This is a recording of an isolated little forest in Zuid Limburg, the Netherlands. It was recorded Noverber 4, 2011 at around 21:45.
I had been standing still for about 15 minutes in a dark, silent forest when this fox started screaming out of nowhere. It was quite amazing and gave me literally goosebumps. The recording continues with the forest ambience.
A matched pair of Rode NT1-A's in ORTF setup into a 744t was used to capture this audio. You hear traffic noises from miles away, damped by hills. Also lot's of little clicks and pops are audible, from things falling down from trees, apparently. In real life these sounds where very quiet and the deep traffic drone was inaudible.
The influence of humans makes it practically impossible to record true silence in nature (In the Netherlands at least). Even if you think you have found an isolated, silent location there will always be the hum of traffic on land and in the air. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but just quite intriguing.

Thanks SO much. This is so well recorded and has a great atmosphere. It's going behind some music to promote a play.
