Shay #5 is now owned by Mountain Rail West Virginia and used for scenic tourist excursions out of Cass, West Virginia USA. For more about this particular locomotive see this page.
Recorded 23 August 2025 at 96 kHz sample rate, 32 bit floating point. Equipment used was a Josephson C700S microphone and Sound Devices MixPre-10 II. In post, this sound was encoded to ORTF stereo with Harpex and converted to 24 bit after setting levels.
