Room tone (ambience) of an empty McFarlin Auditorium on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, TX, USA. McFarlin Memorial Auditorium opened in 1926. It seats 2,386 on 3 levels, and is still used for many events and performances for both the university and local organizations.
This is a quiet sound. Levels are around -60 to -66 dBFS. Recorded in 2011 using a Speiden/Royer SF-12, an AEA TRP preamp, and Sound Devices SD-722. I also recorded various impulse responses of this room, but now I can't find them. :-(
