Now that Autumn is starting to touch the Midwest with cold northwest winds laden with mist, time to warm up with a recording made back on July 2 2023 at Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge in far southern Illinois.
The temperature at the time of this recording was a very warm 84 degrees with a decent amount of humidity in the air.
The dominant bird you hear is the very beautiful, Indigo Bunting. The Buntings though will soon be gone down south to warmth and plentiful insects. At least this recording though gives a good snapshot, and, personally for me, a good warm feeling with enjoyable memories of the Summer of 2023 in southern Illinois.
Equipment: Recorder-Marantz PMD 661
Microphone- Sennheiser MKH-8070 long-range shotgun microphone
Thanks for taking the time to listen to this recording, containing memories of summer birds and breezes in a beautiful Federal National Wildlife Refuge.
