Ambiance of river in the summer.
Here the Bergsche Maas changes into the Maas. There is a branch to the Heusdensch Canal.
It is a calm and friendly summer day and occasionally there is a very gentle breeze. Cargo ships and pleasure craft pass slowly. Left the Heusdense Bridge and the traffic. The waves come ashore. To my right is a man fishing wonderfully in the shade of the tree. These trees so close to the river are called beacon trees. In the past, before satellite navigation existed, these trees gave way to the fairway at high tide. The trees were not maintained or replaced and threatened to disappear. Students from HAS University of Applied Sciences have made a plan to preserve the beacon trees. The trees are very important for the Dutch river landscape.
So when you visit our beautiful country do not go to the crowded Amsterdam, but sit quietly next to me and enjoy the view over de rivers. You will love it. For now, close your eyes and listen.
