Young pigs' slaughter. WARNING: this particular sample is very moving, at least for me. It begins with a cry and slowly fades out as the poor creature dies. Recorded in a country house's open yard near Cabra, S Spain. Sennheiser ME66 + MKH30, Shure FP24 preamp, Edirol R09 recorder. It was very hard for me to record this so I hope it's any use.
EDIT: I feel the need to clarify. This is the traditional way of killing the pig in Spanish (and many other countries) rural environment. It is based on bleeding (severance of the major blood vessels), which is not the norm in industrial slaughter houses nowadays (where stunning is applied previously to reduce suffering). I uploaded this to document a traditional practice - very cruel in my opinion - , for the sake of anthropological interest if you wish. Listeners can extract her/his own ethic/moral implications.

I just discovered this sound while doing research for countryside soundscapes. Just... visceral, chills all over. The fact that it is so well recorded makes it even more spine chilling.
I'm not a vegetarian (although my meat consumption is low), but my philosophy regarding these matters is simple: if you're going to eat animals, at least spare them as much suffering as possible. I can totally understand why this practice is now illegal and do not mind at all paying extra for meat coming from animals who have lived decent lives. Thanks for posting this.

Not very vegan of me, but do you sell these with a fully royalty free license? I'd love to use them in the audio book I'm currently sound designing. It's set in the middle ages.
PS. Don't listen to the haters. I'm totally with you in terms of why you SHOULD have recorded it and why it SHOULD be published. I wish those crying against it die in silence.

Holy cow... This chills me to my bones. That is genuine pain and suffering. Not acted, not pretend, but genuine terror. I can hear the difference. This triggers something visceral. Wow.

came here looking for halloween sounds to play for people, and this will be genuinely terrifying. Thank you for capturing this moment.
