NOTES ON FLAC:

I notice that a lot of people have strong feelings about FLAC format! Well, years ago, when bandwidth and storage wasn't as plentiful as it is today, I used this format often. Nowadays, not so much. You can read about FLAC here:

Audacity is available for Mac, Windows and Linux, and will read and convert FLAC files:

If Freesound ever supports updates to existing sounds, I will make all the offending FLAC files back into WAV.
