December 2021 was one of the fourth warmest winter months on record and the green tree frogs, Hyla cinerea were expecting an early spring, calling throughout most of the night in the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. This audio is a little over one hour of brackish water marsh green tree frog calls. During the summer the pig frogs, Lithobates grylio, would call in unison with the green tree frogs. The night of the recording however there were few if any pig frog calls. The green tree frogs called until about 2 a.m. when their calls ceased and then the field crickets made up the majority of night life calls. The Sony PCM M10 recorder was stationed along a Florida Trail pathway just north of Stoney Bayou #2 in the SMNWR. Lom MikroUsi stereo microphones protected by fuzzy windscreens were clipped to a wax myrtle, Morella cerifera along the marsh bank. The recorder was protected with a dry bag. This audio clip was taken between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.
