A distant and large boom with lots of low frequencies, used in film. Listen on appropriate speakers, on those small computer desktop speakers it will be barely audible.

Maybe you can use samples DD1.mp3 and DD2.mp3 too, low rumbles to build up tension or Generator1.wav (3 versions) for a nice low evolving drone.

Check my TrailerDrum pack, you might find them useful too.

Oh, forgot to say, in my "blasts" pack page you'll have to go to page 2 to get to the ones that are intended to fulfill a similar purpose (it should be obvious from their names).

For starters:

It is interesting that this has so many downloads, so I figure it must really serve a need. Those interested might want to check out some explosion sounds and apply a low-pass filter to get only the "boom". This one sound like reverb was added after the filtering, which adds some highs and smooths it out.

I have supplied a few variations of a similar idea in a pack called "blasts" that could be worth a comparison. Depending on the situation, it is hard to predict what might fit the need. http://www.freesound.org/packsViewSingle.php?id=7343
