cory's shearwater is the common international name. In Portugese cagarro.My first night on the Azores I thought the young locals wanted to prank me. I heard this eerie laughing from bushes and hillsides. But it was to dark to see anything. Only after a long time in wonder a dark shadow flew just above my head and made the same noise. I couldn't see it's shape well. Only the next day locals told me all about these funny birds. Each cry sounds different. Sometimes like weeping. But more often like sadistic laughs.
