Oh wait, its not public domain, just creative commons, then you still own it and can do with it what you want.
Using it for a commercial project does however not change its status unless you wish it to be changed.

Technically public domain means that you waiver your rights to the material in question, that means that everyone owns it now, I'm afraid, but to my knowledge its legally impossible to take that right back.

If you used this in a song, that doesn't make this file copyrighted. It makes the song public domain.
