The mic was placed on the front seat of the news truck in order to cut out any other outside noise. You are hearing the real sound of the powerful new Space X Falcon 9 rocket with over 1.3 million pounds of thrust at lift off. Even close to launch pad 40 it takes the full sound a few second to reach the mic.
This was the launch of AsiaSat6, a high speed communications satellite that will cover a large swath of Southeast Asia for broadcasters such as Thaicom.

Beauutiful recording!!!! I was lucky enough to attend a few of the Shuttle liftoffs years ago, and I have to say that is one of the coolest sounding recordings I've heard of this experience. Thank you!
