I want to quit
and leave the sounds to Freesound,
assuming they are of interest.

is this possible?

What do you mean by "quit" and "leave the sounds to Freesound"?

If you upload your sounds and set licensing to public domain, you are letting everyone use your sounds for any use. Maybe that is what you want to do?

This would be a wonderful gift to the community if you set your sounds to cc0. Thank you for your consideration!

Yeah, I agree! I was listening to Cajo's work now, and there are many great sounds there. I like all the radio recordings.

Hi Cajo

If by 'quit' you mean delete your account, but leave your sounds available to the community at Freesound.org then you can do this yourself.

Go to the delete account section of the settings here: https://freesound.org/home/delete/

On this page there is an option to delete your account but leave the sounds available still. ( "Delete only my user account information" ).

If you experience any trouble with this please contact support and i'll assist you. https://freesound.org/contact/

Kindest

thanks Headphaze!
I didn't know this feature - logical.

more questions:

will the sounds retain the license I assigned to them?

perhaps it would be better to set them all on cc0: but, should I do it? on 103 sounds?
is there a quick way to change license to all sounds?

Currently, sounds don't have their license type converted when the publisher is deleted. And there is no quick way of doing it yourself, it will have to be done individually.

I can enquire about getting the licenses changed for you in bulk by admin.

Hi,

After a request from Headphaze I have just changed all your sounds' licenses to be CC0.
Now you should be able to choose the option to "delete your account and preserve sounds" and sounds will stay in Freesound under CC0. In the future we might change this option so that sounds are automatically changed to CC0.

Thanks for your contributions!!

thanks a lot to you all!
after 12 yrs I can say that the staff of Freesound is made of competent and generous people.

this project has always seemed to me fundamental:
there are many eyes on the internet - Freesoun is definitely the ear.

a project that deserves so much, created by people that we really have to thank.
a European project: precious in an almost monochrome internet.

thanks to all of you staff and volunteers;
a salute to all those I met here.

have fun!
