Hi, I think it would be a good idea to be able to reply to peoples comments on your samples. i.e just a thank you etc. It would help with networking and potential collaborations. Yes yes I know that we can send a private message but a more public thankyou or answer a question that others may also have. As it stands you can only also comment on your own sound and it only alerts yourself.

Does anyone else agree with me?

I agree.

It is a little awkward to send private messages to users in response to their comments, but that's currently the only way to message another user (without commenting on one of their own uploads which would be silly - let alone if they even have any uploads).

This sounds like an interesting idea and I see the point, I'll share it with the dev team and see their opinion!

It's good feedback to people who do make comments and might encourage more users to bother. It's a good community spirit thing.

Also self-comments (rather than threads in a tree) muck up the statistics numbers. Once looked at 8-10 comments on a sound to see what I could learn and found most were self-promotion by the up-loader.

Dear devs while you are at it, please also add comment rating and sorting as well. We should be able to sort comments based on date, positive or negative rating.

Thanks @lilmochabean24 for rebooting this issu.

I wonder @frederic.font what is the result of the consultation? What are the arguments?

I also think it's a good idea. This also promotes the global social and societal opportunities of Freesound.

Hi friends !
Deeply agree ! Very useful feature, that lots of us are waiting for a long time, I guess.
Maybe a good additional function to announce at the Freesound Day ? wink

Wishing you all the best !

Hi
Just adding my voice that yes, I think ability to @ in comments AND forum by having the receiving user get a ping in a mentions tab below "messages" would greatly benefit the community aspect of Freesound!
There would be more back and fourth. Which may also encourage leaving more comments if we're aware of replies! (less a sense of commenting in a vacuum).

Cheers!

Yes! I fully support this idea! That would be wonderful!
