This is the player that will be displayed in the "single sample view" page.
You need flash 10!!! ( http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ )
Please let me know your opinions, and if you find any bugs... I'd like to hear about those as well.
For those of you interested in seeing the source code, you can do that right here:

ehi, what a step ahead! great work!
it works well on Firefox 3.0.5 - Xp.
a minor artifact: the now-playing cursor tremble while loading - then work smooth when sample is loaded; look at the two last samples.
personal: I never liked black background because of the high contrast - example: http://soundcloud.com/ has a lighter palette
Good job!.. being able to jump around inside the files is such a big improvement!
BIG UPS.
Quick test on:
OS X 10.4.11, Safari 3.2.1 browser
Vista Enterprise, Google Chrome browser
Works fine, also the DAW-like spacebar start-stop.
BIAS Peak now also has a black background for wave forms but I much prefer the white in Wavelab or Audiofile Engineering' s Wave Editor. So I am with Cajo on this.

hey guys,
the whole freesound 2.0 "color palette" is vey light, and the dark background works quite well with that, to highlight the most important bit of the site (i.e. the waveforms). Have a look here:

hmm, yes. The spectrum view probably requires high contrast to be useful. Also, the wave form is not like the wave forms in a DAW or editor as it contains color coded frequency information.

updated. please clear your cache, and give it another shot. http://media.freesound.org/files/newplayer/
background is still black...
changes:
* should fix the strange jittery playback-position
* the "loading" is now displayed by greying out the part of the waveform that is not loaded yet
* fixed some issues that had to do with clicking the waveform while loading
* moved the playback position cursor behind the controls instead of in front

Nice work Bram, looking at the frequency sweep, I am wondering if it would be better to have low-frequencies Red and high-frequencies Blue? At least that relates colour to wavelength as you may expect.
I know this is the reverse of what Freesound has been using.
What's wrong with the black background? OK with me.

You're not the first to ask, digifish I agree that if we had done this way back it would have made total sense. But now that people are used to the colors...

Everything looks absolutely amazing! I am really looking forward to this!
My only request is that the player loops sounds seamlessly. When looping a sound like a breakbeat or something using the current player, there is a noticeable gap between playbacks. It's not like it's a bug or anything, but it would certainly be a very helpful feature. I don't know how difficult that is to do with flash. I know flash has some problems with looping sounds.
btw, the player worked just fine in Google Chrome 1.0 on Windows Vista Home.

I don't like this. Flash 10 doesn't work on my system that isn't even two year old. Please go back to flash 9. That is working just fine. Using the newest version you are forcing people to upgrade much more than just flash. It isn't necessary.
I've been watching this player for a while, and the last version looks great! I love a simple application that is flexible at the same time.
About the source code, I would like to try some changes to the player, but on the git repository I can only see actionscript files. I have limited experience with Flash, but as far as I know the swf is created from a fla file. Will you be posting this file too?
Thanks.
Bram

Am I doing something wrong??
Thanks for your help!
Matt
Matt,
No, you can check on http://media.freesound.org/files/newplayer/ if the new players work, but they're not yet integrated on the rest of this site. They most likely will be fully operational once the entire site gets updated to version 2.0.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I thought that the new player is already implemented and that it doesn't work for me for some reason! The new player test page works perfectly. It is really going to be great!
Thank you so much again!
Warm regards,
Matt
