I was going to be like... why would a printer sound be on this list? Then I clicked it and began listening to the original sound, followed by the remixes and usages of the sound. Yep, I understand now.

Just wanted the folks and contributors at FreeSound to know how much I appreciate the work you all do to make the files available at no cost.

You are a terrific bunch of people and have my sincere thanks.

Hard to say as outright utility determines how useful a sound may be. However, a series where one made a rocket launch sound effect out of a microphone with a condom over it impressed me greatly. Would be hard-pressed not to say it's the top sound in my book. It just works.

I'm still blown away by Klankbeelds recording of a woman from Ghana, singing http://www.freesound.org/people/klankbeeld/sounds/180448/

In fact i love to listen to "cultural" recordings. Languages and music is something special, and although i don't travel that much, i try to record that kind of stuff if i can get close to it. But so far this is the biggest gem i've come across, on freesound.

You may like this one, then - I'm quite fond of it, myself!

. It turned into just greater time and effort to look via countless web sites for the proper sound! but then I attempted placing some smooth-to-discover SFX for a few seconds of my animation, and i have to say it genuinely does make a large difference.

Haha thanks. Definitely once in a lifetime.

Recently I found this video which shows a similar effect, quite close: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUREX8aFbMs

But I was 140 miles away so the sound had taken probably several trips to the stratosphere and back to the ground.

On the subject of amazing sounds, the first one to come to mind was davincama's recording of Mt. St. Helens he captured on May 18, 1980.

http://www.freesound.org/people/daveincamas/sounds/21432/

I also like digifishmusic's filtered and amplified version of the sound here:
http://www.freesound.org/people/digifishmusic/sounds/38224/

In my opinion this is one of the most amazing, if not the most amazing sound on here. A once in a lifetime recording.

Sometimes a simple sample can be turned into something very beautiful! By adjusting the sound, you can create something that sounds very beautiful. I have edited a Tim Kahn sample to a different timbre and on https://restinmyhead.website you can hear the result as quiet sounds for people with autism.
