HEllo,

I uploaded a couple of sounds almost 24h ago but these have not appeared yet.
Normally the process is much faster. Have these sounds been rejected or do these things simply take more time sometimes.

Thanks

I want to believe.

Hello,

My sounds have not appeared yet.
Judging by the unusually low number of sounds in the "Additions in last 48 hours" list I suspect the uploads are not working correctly.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Whatever it was.... all seems normal now.

Thanks

I want to believe.

As far as i know, it takes a moderator to go through the sounds, before they are approved. Only then will they show up. Sometimes you're lucky to have them approved quickly, other times the moderators really have some IRL business to take care of wink

I have uploaded some sounds almost 2 weeks ago but cannot see them on the site. Surely it cant take that long too approve?

I have lots more I would like to contribute also.

Have you described your files after upload? Click the "Describe uploaded files" link in the menu on the left. Then they will be reviewed.

Yep I described them all as MC 505 or DIY but didnt add much other than that to distinguish between each one as the name of each file was different and pretty much described the content

Its really weird, it says you have added 19 files, but I don't see them in your profile, you may want to use the contact form to ask about that.

pro-babble,

all your files were deferred because they have a really, really bad description.
please check your mailbox for further instructions.

PS: Corsica_S: are you receiving the moderator-list emails?

pro-babble, also check your SPAM folder as the mails might have ended up in there.
yahoo doesn't like freesound emails.

I really dont think that was an excuse to reject my sounds. In fact I was hoping to upload them then listen to them and edit accordingly afterwards. Can you say over moderation?

My FX were labelled pretty much as follows:-

DIY bass 1
DIY bass 2
DIY bass 3
etc etc

Then the description just said MC505.

Other than the over-moderation here you might want to take a look at how un user friendly the uploader is. Im just a tad annoyed as it took me the best part of an hour to get the hang of the uploader and add them to your site only to have them bounced back. Cant you quarantine them in my profile or something then not release them into the public domain until the description field has reached over 60 characters long or something?

I have just found the emails in my yahoo inbox (which I dont use often) and am working through them as we speak. I might be missing the point but can you let users upload freely then allow other users to flag up whether the sample is illegal or abusive? This methodology works for alot of other sites and by having the report abusive or illegal content button that keeps the site owners on the safe side of the law. All in all its a great site im just questioning how it could be made better

oh dear, after supporting this site, and downloading and sampling sound files from other users I finally decided to contribute and upload some of my own stuff. I hope my descriptions are ok :? they were short, but there wasnt much to describe as they were very small clips

I agree with Bram here. What is a MC505? I might know it is a synth, but other people might not. A better description might detail that the sound was made on your mc505, which is a synthesizer, arp, etc.. and describe what you were emulating; a bass, a lead or what ever. Doesn't have to be long, but it sure could have been a little longer than one word.

Other than the over-moderation....

There is no OVER moderation here, in my opinion of course. I like the fact that a human screens every sound that gets uploaded and I am sure other people do as well.

You don't need to use Freesound's uploader, you can use any ftp client you choose. link I found this out recently as well.

Yeah, Craigslist does that; that's why there is never spam on those boards!woot
The human moderation system might be slower but it really prevents most unacceptable material from getting 'published.' It generally does not take more than 48 hours (or hasn't in any of my uploads). What is the rush?

Cheers.

Rocks.fus appears to be a spammer. Once you upload a file, the "Sounds added" here in the forum already shows 1, even when the sound is not yet reviewed. His record shows 0, which means he never uploaded a file. Then, he never downloaded a file. And of course he has a complete offtopic link in his sig. People hardly have links in their sigs, and when they have them, it's at least mildly on topic. Lastly, his comment is just copied from somebody else:
