Agree. I like old design. It was more minimalistic and simple than the new one.
I think it will be bette when sound "cells" was smaller and layout grid for sounds was "list"

Most of the "edit text" widgets used to be resizable. Edit forum post, edit sound description, etc. Now they are a static size, so writing and proofreading a long post involves a lot of scrolling.

Thanks for noticing that before I could! I do long descriptions and so would be hurt by that!

Another round of fixes:

  • I made the "about" text in the profiles a bit wider.
  • I fixed the tooltips issue (it did work on Safari, but not in other browsers). It will take some hours for all sounds to update properly.
  • I made text areas vertically resizable (It does not seem to be working in Safari but it does in Chrome and I guess in other browsers)
  • Made sound and pack geotags load in a modal so you don't need to move away from the search results pare or the sound detail page to see them.

@strangehorizon: I looked at moving the paginator in the forums, but it kind of breaks the page layout to put it before the posts. I was not happy with any solution I tried so I'll leave it as it is. It needs some scrolling when post contents are long. Also it is a common pattern in the new UI that pagination is only at the bottom of object lists and it should be rethinked for other pages as well if it is changed in this page. This is not normally a problem because list elements are not very "tall" in other pages and paginator is not far away, but it can be a problem in forums because the length of the post impacts the height of the element.

Well done, this makes profiles much more appealing to look at now. The text field resize works for me (using SRWare Iron, a variant of Chrome with much of the bloat taken out) as well.

Yes, well done Frederic!

The title tooltips are now showing on all the grid display items (Firefox).

Thanks again.
