Перник, Pernik, Bulgaria

Stereo field recording from the famous Surva folk festival in Pernik, Bulgaria. Captures the rhythmic sounds of Survakari (masked dancers) performing a traditional Bulgarian horo dance. The recording features jingling bells, footsteps, crowd ambience, and the deep, resonant beat of the tupan (a large traditional bass drum). A vibrant and energetic example of Bulgaria’s intangible cultural heritage. People start talking and making traditional shouts in the end.
