Sound of a sheet (the rope attached to the corner of a sail) being tightened around a winch on a sailing boat. This recording contains a sequence of moves to tighten the sheet and the sheet gradually gets tighter and tighter, producing an ever-higher resonance as is heard when tightening a guitar string. Recorded using a Rode NT4 (in a Rycote WS4 blimp) into a Sony PCMD50 in 2007. This sound file has been manipulated to loop smoothly.
The boat's name is Rún na Mara which translates from Irish to 'Secret of the Sea'.
