12 o’clock in Nice city, France (3rd file).
Everyday at 12 noon, in Nice (South-East of France), one can hear a cannon shot. According to the legend, Sir Thomas Coventry, who was in Nice in 1862, get the permission to fire a cannon everyday at 12 o-clock to remind his wife, who was often late, to come back home to cook lunch. When he leaved (to go back to Scotland), he gave money to Nice city in order to carry on this daily routine. Currently, they don’t fire cannon any more, they use a firework.
So, here, I made the recording from a hill at about 2 or 3 Km of the shot. One can hear hum from the city, birds, some people's voices, some chainsaws or similar machines, and this famous ‘’cannon shot’’ at 1’12’’.
Recorded in May 2022 with an Olympus LS-P4 and a Rode Stereo videomic X (SVMX).
Fade in/out applied in Audacity.
