If you've heard Jeff Wayne's musical "War of the Worlds", you'll recognise this. It's completely done from scratch if you pardon the pun, but similar to the Martian landing cylinder unscrewing on CD 1. This is a panned stereo version for extra effect. The lid falling isn't included because I haven't figured out how to recreate it. The original sample is a tin can being scraped over a concrete block.

nice, also it was Jeff's wife scraping two saucepans together originally. The lid falling off is a combination of (I believe) an oil drum and a concert bass drum.
