Grasshopper or cricket sp. This is an ultrasonic recording 10x time-expanded (ie slowed by 10 times so we can hear it). These insects make a sound called stridulation by scraping body-parts over a row of pegs, which you can hear in the recording, like running a fingernail across the teeth of a comb.

This sound may NOT be used in (royalty free) stock material. You can use them in a creative way as a part of an art-form, but not "re-distribute" as (royalty free) stock material. Thank you.

This will make a lovely samba! If it works out (as part of a sound effect for a play festival), I'll upload the result.
