This is a field recording I pulled from a pond near where I work as the mid-day sun warmed recently formed ice. Ambient temperature was approximately 27°f, wind chill closer to 18°f. Sounds are ice expansion and cracking/popping. No ice was breaking free, but fissures were forming along the underside of the ice.
