A woodpecker near my home was going to town in a nearby tree and I was able to make a surprisingly clear recording, given there was still some distance and it wasn't the best mic. The nice thing about this recording is a minimum of background noise...there's another bird chirping in every so often and I catch the crunch of my feet walking on pine straw, but otherwise it's a pretty clean recording of just the hammering noise.

Hello again! I found another use for this excellent woodpecker sound file. Thank you for sharing it as CC BY 4.0. I have used it in my educational children's music video, "Hiking": http://youtu.be/HgPwMX5uck8 and it is credited as Sound Effects #6 in the acknowledgments under the video. The sound comes in at 01:22. I hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks for this... not certain yet - but it may be perfect for the video I have of a woodpecker pecking at a tree in California (-: Stevie
