@Alan, it is a new one. I was standing a few meters away with my car the "wings" were moving above me.

Was this a traditional windmill i.e. historic or a new turbien and how close were you when recorded?
There is an underlying low pitch; is that the ineternal machinery? I have a project for a new (old style wiundmill to produec electricity and need to prove it makes litle noise. Can you help me? - Alan

"did you protect somehow the microphone?"
Yes, on the one hand i prefer omni - mics, which are less sensitive for wind in general. On the other hand I used a simple foam windshield and pulled socks over them. Furthermore the wind was not so strong as it sounds like - it was almost at midnight.
