Dutch air-raid warning 02.wav

On ever first Monday of the month the Dutch authorities test the air-raid warning system. For a while they could do this in silence but recently it was found that people need to know what the siren sounds like so the sirens are played at 12.00 am. Because there is no real chance of air-raids, the sirens are used in case of emergency, e.g. in the case of Rotterdam (where this is recorded) when a major accidents happens in the chemical industries in the port. This recording is made with a Lem dynamic microphone and an Edirol UA-26. Sorry about the bass bumps. I actually didn't intend to record this but when the sirens were played I was able to connect a microphone and do a quick and unprepared recording, hence the quality. I'll try to make a better one, next month. The sample was processed in Goldwave, cutting high (noise reduction) and cutting low (reducing the bumps). Recorded on Monday 5th of February 2007 at 12.00 am.

Also, they do use Federal Signal Corp Modulators. Wich is wierd seeing an American made siren in a place like that.
