By strange coincidence I have found this sample about 1 hour after hearing and recording a song thrush singing in my garden today January 29th. I live in Yorkshire England and although today is mild I was still surprised to hear a thrush so early in the year.

This is the voice of a song thrush lat. Turdus philomelos. Normally it is impossible to hear it at that time of the year. Normally it does not sing at night. But scottish songthrushes seem to do it. I found further information on this site http://m.fw-reply.com/www/TMsv3/W1SdnJ/index.htm
:"....Don't be surprised if you hear a song thrush singing in January. This is territorial singing and so should be recorded when you first hear it....
