I was recently able to access some field-recordings I made in the summer of 1993 using a portable Sony DAT recorder. Since the more recent file of the ezan in Istanbul was so popular (200+ downloads), I decided to share this with the members...This was recorded in the south-central Turkish city of Sanliurfa...it is regarded by devout moslems as a "holy" city...it also claims to be the birthplace of the biblical Abraham...in this recording a young acolyte is practising the afternoon "ezan" (call to prayer) amid the busy hustle and bustle of the city's business activities...the quality of these dated recordings are not as pure as the originals since these were taken from an analog tape dub I had made and reproduced here in mp3 format.
