Following the latest ‘Dare the Community’ I’ve finally hooked up my dirt cheap RTL software radio dongle to the formerly disused ‘masthead amplifier’ on our roof. Here are some English truckers(?) chatting over CB radio. They seem to be talking about one of their mates growing a beard and suggesting they ‘give him a Quran’.

Finally! A radio sound with incomprehensible gibberish that sounds military-ish! Just what I needed for my Podcast!

@jamesabdulrahman
I am happy the dare has inspired you to make recordings.
RAdio sounds are quite unique - Lofi and unique.
We should preserve them. It is likely our kids or our grandchildren will never hear an actual shortwave radio. Plus, these sounds can work wonderfully in musical productions...

For Mustard Theatre company's production of 'Little Voice'. Thank you.

It’s narrowband FM, received on my RTL-SDR dongle using the GQRX software for Linux. That’s what’s traditionally used for CB over here in the UK, although AM and single sideband transmissions were legalised as of last month. There might be some digital artefacts, I don’t know. I’m a bit of a newb with this radio stuff.
