The mechanical sounds produced by a Sony minidisc as it starts recording (20 s). The mic was directly pointed at the minidisc, at some 5 cm. Sennheiser ME66 > Shure FP24 > iRiver HP120

Of course, it did, you know... ME66 + FP24 is what I use to record insects! In this case this was obviously overkill (and a little private joke to acclivity :-)

Maybe your microphone magnified the motor's very silent sound.

uhh... I hope so, been using it only for two months now. But being my first MD I can't know for sure.

Is it working properly? The motor noise seems half broken. (like mine..)
