The self-noise of an iRiver H120 using its mono internal mic. This noise occurs periodically when data is written to the hard drive. (This is not to put down the iRiver - I have here intentionally concentrated on the hard drive noise. It is easily avoided by the use of an external mic distanced from the recorder).
