IIRC I had a signal playing which consisted of a simple sine modulated in frequency by another sine (at a rate of around 10 Hz or so).
I then recorded the signal to a file and cropped the region down to less than a second, because I only needed a couple of freq. sweeps for the short health item pick sound I was trying to achieve.
Oh and I added a bit of reverb too (which I now kinda regret).
