Thanks a lot!!! Sometimes the simplest things are the hardeest to get.

Don't want to be pedantic, but this sounds more like an alarm call (If a hens not happy about where she is or what's around her) Usually when they lay it's more of a muted purring sound, like they are really pleased with themselves.
If you see any dramas with hens in it, the alarm call is all you can hear, as they don't like the film crews etc hassling them. (Like in 'Doc Martin' - it's the same each time you see his aunties farm).
