Generate three kinds of beats with program discord (http://discord.sourceforge.net/). The resulting sample is approximately 10 minutes long. The beats range from low delta to low beta. Beta (above 12 Hz) is waking consciousness, alpha (8Hz to 12 Hz) is meditative state, theta (4Hz to 8Hz) is dream state, and delta (0Hz to 4Hz) is deep sleep. There is a 2 minute slide in steps down to the final 8 minutes of constant play. As the title says, there are 20 beats, constant during the last 8 minutes as .5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 9, 10, 12, 16 in Hz. If you have ever had a seizure such as an epileptic seizure, you should not listen to this as it might cause a recurrence because it contains beats in the theta range, reputed to possibly have that effect.

Because there are so many beats in such a broad range, nearly everyone should be able to entrain to some extent with this file. If you entrain at the lower beat frequencies, the effect will be very noticeable. ;-)

Generated at 44100 Hz, 16 bit. Best listened to using headphones in order to get the maximum effect from the beats.

I had some suspicions that that might be the case after I thought about it a bit. But you have nothing to apologize for. Your comment made me realize that I hadn't clarified some things that I take for granted. So it was actually helpful because it gave me a different perspective. And future people who are looking for brainwave entrainment samples will get the benefits of that when they find this and read the comments here.

So, as the Aussies would say "No worries, mate!".

Wisslgisse,I owe you an apology for when i said that there were too many distractions for this to be of benefit i should have made it clear that these distractions were happening here around me and was in no way meant as a reference to the sample itself.

Another thing to be aware of when listening to this is that it is a sample. The commercial version of binaural beats provided by Holosync uses a slide of 30 minutes and a steady state of 30 minutes. This sample uses a slide of 2 minutes and a steady state of 8 minutes. For someone experienced, that will be OK, but a beginner will do much better with the longer times, in fact needs them to fully entrain. That being said, if you listen to this once or twice or three times, you should get an effect even if you are a beginner.

Some further thoughts. In a way it is like those pictures that are visual nonsense until you look at them just right and they become three dimensional images. I suspect that a revelation like that is part of the training/learning for the brain in order for it to entrain with beats. Though the ability seems to be intrinsic.

Another approach would be to mix this with some background sounds that distract the (conscious) brain from the beats. Again this is individual, but you could use rain or wind or water or any sound that appeals to you and mix it with the sequence using a sound editor to see if it then has an effect. Random seems to work best for most people, but what works for you is what is important.

The effort, if successful, will be rewarding. Brainwave entrainment is a pleasant experience, disregarding any other effects/benefits.
