STREET SOUNDS

Recorded with a Sharp minidisc recorder and a home-made 3-D imaging microphone, this street recording was made on the road known as Lord Mayor's Walk in York during Fresher's week 2015 outside St John's University. it was evening and the traffic was light.

Thank you. I intend to. For a long time I didn't have a recording device but now I am re-instated with a minidisc I shall come up with something. The street sounds recordings are a little difficult to do with this microphone as it looks like a huge furry lollypop. I found some tutorials and academic writings on how to create stereo-imaging microphones and the principles behind them. Consequently, my mic has a huge circular noise cancelling disc (the size of a human head) between two mic capsules encased in wind-cheat fur. Cheap to make, simple principle but great results when listened to on headphones.

home-made 3-D imaging microphone? that sounds very fancy creation, maybe you can record some very space detailed recordings, like surround system?! thank you!
