El 4 de marzo de 1863, 25 tranvías inauguraron un recorrido desde Barón hasta la Aduana. Con casi cuatro kilómetros de longitud, el recorrido demoraba aproximadamente treinta minutos. Fue el primer servicio de transporte público de Valparaíso y tercero de su tipo en América Latina. In March 4th, 183, 25 tramways begin a route from Baron to Aduana. With almost four kilometres long, this route used to take approximately 30 minutes. It was the first public transport service in Valparaiso and the third one in Latin-america.
