Note: Not all of the vehicles in the picture are part of the zaffeh; some were simply stuck in traffic caused by the procession.
Stereo field recording from a window on Al Irsal Street, Ramallah (15/08/2025, 5:30 PM). A convoy of trucks blows their horns as part of a traditional Palestinian zaffeh (wedding procession). In Arab culture, the zaffa (Egyptian Arabic: زفـّـة / ALA-LC: zaffah) is a musical march that often includes bendir drums, bagpipes, horns, belly dancers, and men carrying flaming swords. Once the procession reaches its destination, it is followed by loud celebrations and dinner. (Background information adapted from Wikipedia.)

Oh, how fun that zaffeh is! Even here in the Netherlands, when a Muslim—say, of Turkish descent—gets married, the wedding procession is full of honking. And when their music is played, the celebration feels complete. The men often rent expensive cars and rev their engines loudly. I think it's wonderful.
Thanks for the sound 5*
