Mortar and pestle grinding: pestle scraping and grinding roughly around the mortar bowl, clinking against the glass stoneware. Rough, harsh grinding sounds coupled with clinking sounds. The sound was recorded with a Zoom H6 recorder, making use of the XY stereo microphone attachment. The sound was post-processed in Reaper DAW to remove low rumbling and handling noise, and lessen the peaking of the tapping of glass against glass (high pass filter and compressor). The sound was recorded in the afternoon in a sound-proofed room in order to lessen the influence of external sounds in the recording.
