Soundscape recorded in the Sanctuary of Waters: Guaratuba River Valleys.
The complex river system of Guaratuba, on the coast of Paraná, represents one of the last great refuges of the preserved Atlantic Rainforest. Where the fresh waters descending from the Serra do Mar mountains meet the saltwater of the bay, an invaluable estuarine ecosystem is formed.
This region is characterized by dense mangroves and restinga forests that act as natural nurseries for vast marine life, including fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. Beyond the underwater richness, the river valleys—such as the Cubatão and São João—host spectacular birdlife, home to scarlet ibises, herons, and sandpipers. This makes the landscape not only a stunning visual scenery but also a natural symphony of sounds and wildlife.
