next to a busy highway running alongside the Liesbeeck and Black rivers in Cape Town, lies the Raapenberg Bird Sanctuary, a wetland preserve where many birds nest and breed in spite of the heavy traffic just meters away. Afternoon traffic can be heard on the highway as well as the occasional sound of a traffic helicopter overhead.
