@PD it's superior quality.
Although obviously it's not superior usability.
One day Freesound might have a "download as mp3" function but I for one will keep using FLAC because it's lossless while being compressed as opposed to WAV. You can use sox, Audacity or other tools to convert, some might be quick to use.
