My forklift recorded using my phone at work. I just cut out and muted most of the ambience using Goldwave (http://www.goldwave.com/) to make it more just the hydraulics. If you cut out sections, scramble them and fool around with the speed in the sound, I think you can get a great variety of pneumatic and robot-sounding sounds out of it.
