This is a type of insect, as far as I know, that currently resides outside my window. It likes to burrow just under the surface of the wet soil and croak, or sing, as is the case in this recording. I don't know what it is, but I had first mistaken it for a frog or other amphibian.
If I find out what it is, I'll be sure to link it here at a later date if I can!
